The Face of God

Dear friend, if you want to see the face of God don’t go searching for it in that beautiful church down the road; go to the gutters instead. Go with your heart. Break off heart pieces and share love communion- offer nourishment to stomachs that know the ache of empty, reach out a hand of love and give a warm touch to a person who may not remember the feeling of another human, and SPEAK TRUTH into ears and hearts who have heard and believed too many lies for too many years. Go, and behold the face of God.

Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it NOT to one of the least of these, ye did it NOT to me. ~Jesus

For I was an hungered, and ye gave me no meat:  I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:   I was a stranger, and ye took me not in:  naked, and ye clothed me not:  sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.  Matt. 25:40,42,43

Do we ever think of serving and loving a hungry, sick, naked, stranger or a hardened sinner locked up in prisons of sin as serving and loving Jesus?

Did you ever sing the hymn that says, “ All to Jesus I surrender, ALL to him I FREELY give?” What does that look like in everyday life? Could it look like giving your plate of food to a hungry stranger?  Could it be sharing a cup of cold water with a sick, homeless man? Is it giving your clothes to a demon possessed lady running naked in the streets?

I believe that is what it means. God is everywhere. To see him, our spiritual eyes need to be open or we will miss him.

Does this look like the face of God to you?

What about this one? Is he created in the image of his Maker?

How could you see the face of God in someone who lives under the tables at the dirty market place?

Or in this beaming face of one who is considered “simple?”

Is it any wonder that many people will ask God, “ When did we see you hungry or thirsty,  as a stranger, naked, sick and in prison…?” We aren’t used to looking for God in the gutters, on the streets, at the market and we miss him. We don’t see because we are spiritually blind.

It is not enough to be the host family at church once a month. Its not enough to show hospitality to friends and family and the occasional visitor. Those things are good and make our lives richer but that is not what Jesus meant when he said, “ As you have done it unto the least of these my brethren you have done it unto me.”

Want to wash the feet of Jesus? Wash  these feet:

Want to serve God? Serve others. The gospel really is that simple!

Want to see God? Pray for the eyes of your heart to be opened! He is everywhere!

"Love Through Me"

Love through me, Love of God;
MAKE ME LIKE THY CLEAR AIR
THROUGH WHICH, UNHINDERED, COLORS PASS
AS THOUGH IT WERE NOT THERE.
Powers of the love of God,
Depths of the heart Divine,
O love that faileth not, break forth,
And flood this world of Thine.
